Allen Architectural Metals removed the bronze doors of the building, installed temporary wooden doors, refinished the original doors, and then re-installed the newly finished bronze doors.
The process began with the removal of the existing bronze entrance doors and transporting them to the workshop for refinishing. Once the doors were removed, the team installed custom temporary wooden doors, created by Allen. Missing and damaged door components were manufactured using new bronze castings created from patterns made by Allen to match existing components and similar bronze stock material. The refinishing consisted of lacquer removal, surface repairs, and a hot patina application. Door hardware was restored using new bearings and corrosion resistant hinge pins and locking mechanisms. Finally, the newly finished bronze doors were re-installed with the team at Allen ensuring they were properly aligned and secured.
