Soldier’s Arch @ Grand Army Plaza
Located at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, New York, the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch is a triumphal arch, dedicated in 1892, to commemorate those who fought with the Union troops during the Civil War. Since the last restoration in the mid-1990s the arch has suffered from water damage and general deterioration.
The focus of AAM in the current restoration is the interior historic cast iron staircase on the eastern end of the arch, which leads up to an observation deck. AAM will also be restoring the decorative bronze lights, the cast iron trophy gates, and the newel posts. As well as fabricating new decorative cast iron gates.
