Project Description

Responsible for stripping lacquer, cleaning, and polishing 6 bays of etched bronze elevator doors on ground level. In addition, 3 bays of combination metal (stainless steel and bronze) clad elevator doors were also stripped, cleaned, polished, and waxed in main entrance lobby.
Custom bronze vestibule grilles were re-created from photos as they were stolen during the restoration. These grilles were cast in lost wax, machined, assembled, patinated, and reinstalled by AAM. A grand interior cast iron staircase was stripped and painted by Allen Metals on two levels. The monumental atrium skylight was also stripped to bare metal and painted by Allen. 36 levels of bronze mail chutes were also cleaned, stripped, waxed, and reglazed by Allen. When parts were missing they were recreated in house and re-installed. Custom bronze vestibule grilles designed, fabricated, patinated and installed at Washington Boulevard entrance.
