Empire State Building Mooring Mast

Designed by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon and built from 1930 to 1931, in an unbelievable timeframe of 16 months. Built on the site of the old historical site of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The world’s tallest structure at that time. Located at Fifth Anvenue and 34th Street.

New custom replica cast aluminum panels were created to fill voids on the spire after obsolete telecom equipment brackets were removed. The replacement castings were recreated after 3D scanning of the original panels on the existing spire to create custom patterns. Allen Architectural Metals also assisted the design professionals in attachment and finishing techniques specifically related to the site installation challenges which faced the team.

Awarded the Lucy G. Moses Award.
