The historic Old City Hall project in Richmond, Virginia, has been awarded the Palladio Award for excellence in traditional design. The award was presented to the architectural team at Quinn Evans, who led the restoration of this iconic structure.
Allen Metals is proud to have had a role in this award-winning project. Our team restored the exterior ironworks, including the window well railings, posts, window grilles, and a cast iron stair unit. Inside the building, we undertook sheet metal repairs, replication, and finishing of the coffered beams and atrium cornice, preserving the architectural integrity of this historic landmark.
Our work extended to the restoration and refinishing of various brass alloy metals, including a plaque, mailbox, and mail shoot. The original interior radiators were not only restored but also reconfigured to align with the building’s historical design. Lastly, we refinished the interior vault door, ensuring it retained its visual authenticity.
