Allen Architectural Metals is proud to recognize Moss Rudley for receiving the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Distinguished Service Award, the Department’s highest honor for distinguished career service.

The award recognizes Rudley’s 26 years of service to the National Park Service and his significant contributions to historic preservation, workforce development, and the advancement of the traditional trades. The Department of the Interior citation recognizes Rudley for his combination of hands-on craftsmanship, workforce innovation, leadership and ability to advance complex preservation initiatives. It notes the lasting impact of his work on historic preservation and the National Park Service nationwide.

Moss Rudley is exactly the kind of person we are intentionally adding to our team at Allen Architectural Metals and there is no doubt that his eminent career with the National Park Service, as recognized by the Department of the Interior and known to his peers, will continue in his new role leading all of our field operations, building a sustained preservation workforce, and contributing to our mission to exceed and drive industry standards for the restoration, preservation, custom design, and fabrication of ornamental metals. ~Kelly Clark, Senior Vice President, Allen Architectural Metals

Over the course of his career, he advanced through leadership roles at the Historic Preservation Training Center, becoming Superintendent in 2017 and Director in 2024. During his tenure as Director, Rudley helped expand HPTC from approximately 75 employees to nearly 200 while directing preservation work across 425 National Park Service sites. He founded the Traditional Trades Apprenticeship Program, facilitated 76 stewardship internships and contributed to the development of national policy related to traditional trades training and workforce development. In addition to his leadership at HPTC, Rudley served as Acting Associate Regional Director for the National Capital Region since September 2025. In that role, he supported major preservation and rehabilitation initiatives and helped coordinate high-priority projects in preparation for America’s 250th anniversary.

Rudley recently joined Allen Architectural Metals as Superintendent, Field Operations Manager, and will be our point person for all field work, bringing decades of experience in historic preservation, craftsmanship, workforce development, and leadership to the company.

This award means so much to me. I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned over the years to the Allen team — championing the trades, keeping the craft of architectural metal preservation alive, and standing behind the people who work on every project across the portfolio. ~Moss Rudley, Superintendent, Field Operations Manager
